Why WE GO

At Mercy Road, we believe mission trips are about more than traveling somewhere new or completing a project. We go with purpose—and we come back changed.

Every Mercy Road mission trip is built around three things:

  • We don’t go to be the heroes. We come alongside trusted ministry partners who are already doing meaningful, long-term work in their communities. Our role is to listen, learn, encourage, and serve in ways that strengthen what God is already doing through them.


  • There’s something powerful about stepping outside of your comfort zone and experiencing something new alongside the people on your team. As you serve together, navigate unfamiliar experiences, laugh, learn, and rely on one another, relationships grow deeper. Mission trips create a unique opportunity to move beyond Sunday-morning conversations and build meaningful community with others at Mercy Road.

  • Stepping outside of what’s familiar gives us the opportunity to see God—and the world—in a new way. Our hope is that every person comes home with a deeper faith, a broader perspective, and a greater understanding of how God is inviting them to live on mission wherever they are.

We go to serve. We go together. And we go expecting God to change us along the way. 

  • Rise Up Rwanda Experience | International Experience

    Join Rise Up on a transformative mission trip to Rwanda, the "Land of a Thousand Hills," where you’ll discover the country's rich culture and stunning landscapes. This journey will immerse you in Rwanda’s vibrant history, visiting key cultural landmarks and learning about the nation’s ongoing efforts in peace and reconciliation. A highlight of the trip is meeting women who are participants in the 3-year women’s development program, connecting with teachers and students at a girls’ boarding school, visiting a farm and pig initiative, and hearing stories of life change from community members, while learning about the reconciliation initiatives that have helped Rwanda to heal after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. This is a unique opportunity to witness the lasting impact of Rise Up's sustainable development initiatives while exploring the heart of Rwanda.

  • City Relief | New York | Stateside Experience

    Join us as we partner with City Relief, a ministry that comes alongside friends and guests who are experiencing homelessness through consistent presence, compassion, and connection to life-changing resources. During our trip, we’ll prepare and serve hot meals, distribute essential supplies, offer prayer and encouragement, and build relationships on the streets of Manhattan and the Bronx.

    Dates: March 9 – 14, 2027

  • Giving Back Hope Together VBS | International Experience

    Are you ready for an immersive serving trip that will be fulfilling and transformative? This travel team will work alongside the local Giving Back Hope Together (GBHT) staff and volunteers as they conduct a week-long vacation Bible school for 500 to 600 children living in Nairobi, Kenya. Children are fed breakfast and lunch, led in worship, provided Bible teaching, and participate in crafts and organized play.

  • Dream Center Dallas | Texas | Stateside Experience

    Join us as we partner with Dream Center Dallas, a ministry transforming South Dallas—a community impacted by poverty and food insecurity—through practical service and the love of Jesus. We’ll deliver fresh food to families in need, serve in the women’s clothing store, join community outreach projects, and build relationships through prayer and hands-on service. This trip is all about serving, connecting, and growing together—come be part of what God is doing in Dallas!
